Fr Paul Fenech
Fr Paul Fenech was born at Mtarfa, Malta on the 13th September 1955, of Joseph and Mary nee’ Camilleri. He was baptised in the Catholic Church dedicated to St Cajetan Thiene of Hamrun, where later Providence called him to serve for ten years as parish priest. He studied at the Minor and Major Seminary, and was ordained priest on the 11th July 1981. Since then, he served for eight and a half years as Assistant to the Parish Priest of Cospicua, in 1989 he was appointed Religious Councellor in government schools. In 1998, he was nominated Parish Priest at Hamrun, where he served for 10 years. During this period Fr George Preca, who grew up, ministered and founded the Society of Christian Doctrine in the same parish, was beatified and cannonised as the first Maltese Saint. In November 2008, the Archbishop of Malta entrusted him with the work of helping in the co-ordination of Religious Councellors in School, together with the work of formation of lay people and the work in the new evangelisation. 26th June 1977 is the day when Paul, still a Seminarian, went through a striking spiritual experience that changed his life and illuminated him with a specific and particular call.
