Can You See It?
You see what you see. You see when you see. And you see where you look. Obvious! What is not so obvious is that you can see what others might not be seeing; you can see when others might not be seeing and you can see where others might not be looking. This is because there are two ways of seeing: we see with our bodily eyes any material thing that reflects light; and we see whatever might be invisible to our bodily eyes, but not to the eyes of our soul. Through our bodily eyes we can see all signs of love, like a hand-shake, a hug, a kiss etc. But how can we see love? How can we tell between two persons who give us a hug, who is the one who really loves us and who who is the one who is just an impostor? It is through the eyes of the inner self that we can come to see that.
Looking around you, you see what every healthy human being sees. Unless there is someone who is asleep and, therefore, his eyes are closed; and of course, unless someone is not looking somewhere else. We understand that. It is our human experience. Certain diseases – like diabetics, glaucoma, etc -, sleep or even distractions, denies us the capacity to see what everybody else around us would be seeing. Yet, the most distressing thing is when you meet someone in such conditions challenging and negating what others are seeing, just because he is not seeing it!
I wonder! Does it mean that there is also something like inner diabetics, or glaucoma of the soul? Does it mean that someone might fall asleep spiritually? Does it mean that we might also have inner distractions?
I do not know whether one needs to get a professional survey, and wait for its result, to say that there is quite a good portion of humanity that today they cannot see God and His Kingdom. I would be surprised if the percentage would not be very high; at least, that is my impression.
Where is God? Whether God has gone on long leave, or whether humanity has decided to dismiss Him and do without Him, can be disputable. But the absence of God is a fact that is becoming ever more explicit. Last year, Pope Benedict spoke about secularism infiltrating even at the liturgy in our churches. Can you imagine that? God being absent even from the liturgy and from the church, where people are supposed to go in order to meet with Him?! If we cannot see God in what appertains to Him, and celebrations supposedly dedicated to Him and to His friends, no wonder we will not see Him anywhere else!
I wish I can meet someone saying that He is seeing Him! I will surely pray for him, because he will have to face the ridicule and persecution of so many around him who are seeing quite the contrary!
What about you? Can you see Him? Do you have the courage to stand up? If you are not seeing Him, you do not need any courage to say so; you will find so many around you agreeing with you. But you need some courage to declare that you are seeing Him!
